The glossary — chapter 2 of 12

Keyword Research & Intent, defined

How demand is found, read and mapped before anything gets written.

In practice

A consultant checks real queries, the SERP and commercial value before assigning the term to a page.

Why it matters

It helps prioritise demand and intent without letting a tool make the entire strategy.

Search Volume

An estimate of how often a keyword is searched during a given period.

Ana says: It is an estimate, not a prophecy delivered from a mountain.

Keyword Difficulty

A tool-generated estimate of how competitive a keyword may be.

Ana says: Use the data as evidence, not as a commandment delivered by a tool.

Seed Keyword

A broad starting term used to discover related searches and topics.

Primary Keyword

The main query or intent a page is designed to satisfy.

Long-tail Keyword

A longer, more specific query with clearer context or intent.

Ana says: Low volume does not mean low value. Sometimes the quiet keyword arrives with a credit card.

Branded Keyword

A query containing a company, product or personal brand name.

Non-branded Keyword

A query expressing a need without naming a specific brand.

Commercial Investigation

Search intent focused on comparing options before making a decision.

Keyword Cannibalisation

Several pages competing for the same or very similar search intent.

Ana says: More pages can create an internal family argument instead of more authority.

Keyword Mapping

Assigning keyword groups and search intents to specific URLs.
